What To Do If You See Visible Mold

If You See Visible Mold

If you see visible mold, do not disturb it. You can inadvertently spread the mold infestation throughout your home. When mold is disturbed, the mold can release microscopic mold spores which become airborne and can circulate inside your home.

What to Do:

  • Stay out of affected areas.
  • Turn off the HVAC system and fans.
  • Contact SERVPRO for mold remediation services.

What Not to Do:

  • Don’t touch or disturb the mold.
  • Don’t blow air across any surfaces with visible or suspected mold growth.
  • Don’t attempt to dry the area yourself.
  • Don’t spray bleach or other disinfectants on the mold.

Mold In The Bathroom

This bathroom overflowed, causing some mold to form. SERVPRO was able to come in quickly and clean up the mess, leaving it "Like it never even happened." We are faster to any disaster no matter how big or small!

Mold pattern

This is a picture that shows many different kinds and colors of mold that you never want to try and take care of yourself. Not all mold looks as scary as this but it doesn't mean it isn't.

The mushroom effect

This basement was the perfect breeding ground for the mushrooms you definitely DO NOT want to eat! The level of moisture, and dirt on the carpet made it easy for the mushrooms to feed on the dirty carpet fibers.

The start of a mold tear out.

This picture was taken in basement of a home that was left unattended because no one ever used it. The basement had to be completely stripped and redone because the mold had gotten incredibly bad.

Crazy mold

This mold was the direct result of the waste line breaking in a basement and covering 600sq. ft. with human feces. The feces had sat for more than a week before the tenant came back from vacation. Everything was removed and the walls were cut out almost three feet up.
